Common questions

How do I know if a dispensary in Los Angeles is licensed?

Search its name, street or city on MJC420. We check it against the California Department of Cannabis Control's active license list (1,811 retail licenses statewide, exported 2026-10-01). If it isn't on the list, it isn't licensed. The license certificate on the shop's wall should show the same number.

Are there licensed dispensaries in Glendale or Burbank?

No. Glendale, Burbank, La Crescenta, Montrose and several other LA County cities have zero licensed cannabis retailers. Any shop operating inside those city limits is unlicensed. MJC420 lists the closest licensed shops and licensed delivery services.

Why buy only from licensed shops?

Licensed cannabis must pass state lab testing for pesticides, mold and heavy metals, and the label shows exact potency, a batch number and a lab certificate. Unlicensed product is tested by no one.

How many licensed cannabis retailers are in Los Angeles County?

507 active retail, delivery and microbusiness licenses in LA County, per the DCC export of 2026-10-01.

Does a medical card still matter in California?

Yes. Patients with the state MMIC card skip the sales tax at licensed shops, can buy higher amounts, and can shop at 18+ with a recommendation.
